Easy Cleaning & Draining
Even if your spa water looks clear, it can accumulate body oils, lotions, and chemicals over time. Biofilm may also develop. To prevent excessive scum buildup and dirty water, we recommend draining and cleaning your spa 2 to 3 times a year.
TO DO SO, YOU WILL NEED:
- Spa Flush (Available With Tub Purchase)
- Tub Scrub sponge (Available With Tub Purchase)
- Mild soap (dish soap can be used)
- Hose to drain the water
- Hot tub startup chemicals (Test strips, Spa Clear, Scale Control, Alkalinity Booster, pH Up and Down, Spa Shock, Chlorine Granules – Available With Purchase)
STEPS:
- 1. Prepare the spa: While your spa is filled, remove the filter(s), headrests, and pillows. Place them in the water to clean and prevent clogging or discoloration.
- 2. Add Spa Flush: Squeeze 15mL of Spa Flush into the water for up to 1500L/400 US gal.
- 3. Run the jets: Open all jets, turn them on high, and open the air intake(s) to create turbulence. Let the jets run for 15 to 30 minutes to allow the Spa Flush to clean thoroughly.
- 4. Clean the edges: While the Spa Flush foams, check for gunk around the edges. Use a Tub Scrub sponge or cloth to clean it off. You can also use the foam to clean the inside of your hot tub cover.
- 5. Drain the spa: After 30 minutes, it's time to drain the water. Watch the video for instructions on how to use your spa's drain.
- 6. Scrub the spa: Once drained, use a Tub Scrub cloth or sponge with mild soap to wipe the spa. Rinse well and drain the rinse water.
- 7. Refill the spa: Refill with fresh water and start up your spa as usual.
- 8. Add spa chemicals: Once refilled, add the necessary chemicals. Watch THIS short video for a refresher on how to use them.
- 9. Relax and enjoy your clean spa!
